Gibraltar Government partners with the Hackathon Post-COVID DLT

Gibraltar Finance has been announced as an official partner of the upcoming Hackathon, which will take place Post-COVID, a global online initiative that aims to create open source solutions to address the health, social and economic challenges of the post-COVID-19 era.

The event is expected to involve hundreds of internationally trained Bitcoin Loophole teams in the field of distributed ledger technology (DLT), and more than 200 industry experts are expected to attend.

Albert Isola, Gibraltar’s Minister for Digital and Financial Services, expressed his pride in the government’s involvement in the hackathon, stating that „the COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it a number of new global challenges“.

„I am excited and look forward to seeing the dynamic solutions that will emerge from this initiative, aimed at helping global communities adjust to the post-pandemic world. We are happy to support and be part of this great work,“ he added.

Coinsilium and Indorse will host the hackathon
The Hackathon Post-COVID will be co-organized by a Gibraltar-based investor and advisor to the first blockchain companies, Coinsilium, and a Singapore-based fintech company, Indorse.

„The goal of the Hackathon Post-COVID is to mobilize the coding talent of the blockchain community to build open and unlicensed solutions and accelerate the post-COVID recovery process,“ said Coinsilium CEO Eddy Travia.

Travia noted his appreciation for the support of the Gibraltar government, adding: „We welcome individuals and organizations to support this initiative and help us shape a positive ’new normal‘.

The event will also be supported by the RSK smart contract developers, and the Tribe Accelerator blockchain incubator.

Online events for the Post-COVID Hackathon are scheduled to begin on August 10 and last through November.
